Tacoma is on a mission to help the city’s 'food deserts' with a 26 foot trailer kitchen that looks like a food truck on steroids.
It’s called The Mobile Teaching Kitchen and its designed to fight fast food and help Tacoma live healthier.
Ralph Thomas of Metro Parks Tacoma says this $130,000 dream kitchen on wheels is the first of its kind in the country.
There will be classes covering topics like diabetes prevention, cooking on a budget, and cooking to lower cholesterol. A staff of chefs and a nutritionist will man this classroom as it travels Tacoma to help the neighborhoods where fresh food is hard to come by like East Tacoma
