Check Out Tacoma's Food Truck On STEROIDS!

Tacoma is on a mission to help the city’s 'food deserts' with a 26 foot trailer kitchen that looks like a food truck on steroids.

It’s called The Mobile Teaching Kitchen and its designed to fight fast food and help Tacoma live healthier.

Ralph Thomas of Metro Parks Tacoma says this $130,000 dream kitchen on wheels is the first of its kind in the country.

There will be classes covering topics like diabetes prevention, cooking on a budget, and cooking to lower cholesterol. A staff of chefs and a nutritionist will man this classroom as it travels Tacoma to help the neighborhoods where fresh food is hard to come by like East Tacoma

The Mobile Teaching Kitchen won’t SOLVE East Tacoma’s food desert problem it is a piece to the puzzle

The Mobile Food Kitchen will be on display for the first time at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Eastside Community Center (1721 E 56th St, Tacoma, WA 98404).
