The 1,000 Cuts Project was created to share stories of "casual discrimination" from people of color in Seattle. Created by Ahmad Corner, founder of YPGroup and Young Professionals of Seattle, the 1,000 Cuts Project helps shed a light on the ways that "casual discrimination" can be just as harmful as overt displays.
Seattle residents are encouraged to share their personal stories of how they have been discriminated against in their everyday lives. Hearing things like "you don't talk Black", or "your name is complicated" are examples of these "casual discrimination" encounters that people have shared.
