Seattle Public Schools to Close For TWO WEEKS Due to Coronavirus

I knew this was coming!

After Governor Inslee announced a banning of events with 250 people or more, Seattle Public Schools have announced starting tomorrow (03/12/20) they will close for two weeks in light of coronavirus concerns. This choice was sent out via email to the parents. Check out parts of the email below!

"The decision to close the district was extremely difficult. We know that closing our schools will impact our most vulnerable families and we recognize that working families depend on the consistency and predictability of supports and services our schools offer.

We also recognize there are still a lot of unknowns about this disease and just how prevalent it is in our community. While children appear to be more protected from extreme symptoms, adults, including our educators and employees, need support and protection as well.

It is in times like these that our community values become visible. Please take care of each other. Reach out to neighbors and lend a hand to those in need. We will get through this, but it will require all of us thinking creatively and continuing to support our community’s children” - District's Public Affairs Office Via KUOW

I don’t think shutting down schools is a bad idea, however I do have concerns about childcare. Not all parents have a baby sitter, let alone can afford daycare. PLUS lots of kids depend on school lunches due to not having much to eat at home. I hope the schools come up with a way to help the families in need.

In the meantime stay tuned to this blog and my Instagram @Naybesa for the latest coronavirus updates!
