Mattel is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Black Barbie designed by a black woman named kitty Black Perkins. The 40th anniversary barbie is sporting a long red dress with the lil thigh slit..shes rocking her afro just like the original but its pulled up like in apony, good hoop earrings with a matching gold clutch. She’s basically a recreation of the original with a similar but more updated style. Mattel had been making black dolls since the 60s but they were always “friends” of barbie, there wasn’t an actual Black Barbie until the 80s.
