9/11 Memorials Around Washington You Can Attend

Here are the places you can go around the Puget Sound to remember the ones we lost and the ones who fought to keep us safe...

Seattle

At noon, the Seattle fire and police departments will hold a joint event at the Seattle Center Memorial Garden, 305 Harrison St. Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, Police Chief Carmen Best, and Mayor Jenny Durkan will speak.

Federal Way

At 1 p.m., South King Fire and Rescue will hold an event featuring New York City Fire Department Capt. Michael Dugan. The event will take place at SKFR Station 64, 3700 South 320th St., which features a memorial constructed from pieces recovered at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Shanksville.

Edmonds

This event at Edmonds' Sept. 11 memorial gets underway at 9:11 a.m., and will feature remarks from South County Fire Capt. Ander Speier. He was a former FDNY firefighter, and assisted in search efforts at Ground Zero. The Edmonds memorial, featuring steel from the World Trade Center, is located at 275 6th Avenue North.

Milton

An ongoing 9/11 memorial project at Milton Community Park, located at Milton Way and 15th Avenue, will hit a major milestone on Wednesday. A piece of steel from the World Trade Center will be raised at a 1 p.m. ceremony. The Fife, Milton, and Edgewood 9/11 Memorial Committee has been working on the memorial for about seven years.
