Back in January, 7 year old Emma was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive kind of brain tumor called DIPG. Though Emma’s family describes her as being a brave young fighter and an avid dog lover, a family friend made a social idea post asking their followers to send Emma letters and dog pictures in attempt to lift her spirits. Emma’s father Jeff says the response has been over whelming. Thousands of compassionate dogs from literally all over the world have sent letters, emails, and social media messages of encouragement and lots of love. The family was receiving so many messages that they even had to set up a new post offie box and email address in order to accommodate the flood of letters. Jeff guesses they’ve been receiving roughly 2,800 emails every hour, and mail by the truckload! A GoFundMe was also set up to help with Emma’s medical expenses exceeding their goal they have now like over $108,000 in donations..enough for her medical expenses and for Emma’s mom to stop working so she can care for her daughter. Emma is going in for her second surgery and her family is very optimistic that their newfound emotional and financial support will help them pull through. Her dad Jeff said “If you knew Emma, she's the most kind, big hearted girl. To see so many people take a few minutes out of their day to put a smile on her face is overwhelming.”
