Happy Monday!!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I sure did. Last week I had the chance to catch up with the creator of Seattle’s Trap Vinyasa. A new yoga style that is a MUST TRY!
Don’t get me wrong, you have your typical Trap Yoga, which is cute, but this is deeper than just trap music and yoga poses. Trap Vinyasa, is a way of being, a way of thinking, and a way for people of color to let go and embrace the feminine aspects of their bodies. But don’t take my word for it! Get to know all about Trap Vinyasa, Body Party Series and the creator Abiola below:
I’m not one for massive classes, but this class was different. Before class starts, Abiola advises everyone to introduce themselves, which automatically creates a friendly environment. Once class starts she gives a short background and ask if anyone has any injuries she should know about. In case you didn’t know, I broke my ankle in January so I definitely raised my hand.

Being someone who has only taken a yoga class at LA Fitness I didn’t know what to expect, nor did I know any of the techniques beforehand. Thankfully Abiola teaches in a way that anyone with two left feet can keep up with. Did I mess up at times? Of course! However, everyone makes you feel so comfortable it honestly doesn’t even matter. By the end of the class, everyone is relaxed and ready to take a group twerking boomerang.
Class takeaways:
Personally, I learned that although I’ve grown a lot over the last year, I still have insecurities to work out when it comes to being my TRUE self in public. I was also reminded that I’m not as flexible as I used to be and yoga might need to be a daily thing for not only relaxation and flexibility, but also for personal confidence and self-awareness.
On June 15th is the Body Party event! Get details about the event and creator below:

We also feature a kickass panel of women (or female-identifying speakers) highlighting vaginal health, sexual education, self sexuality, libido, spirituality, mental health, body positivity, safe sex, reproduction, hip hop and wellness, queer representation in the wellness space and more.
