Earlier this week, BET announced the nominations for their annual BET Hip-Hop Awards. Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Durk lead with nine nominations each. Of Cardi and Meg's nominations include Song of the Year for "WAP," Hip-Hop Artist of The Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Live Performer and Hustler of the Year amongst the highlights. 21 Savage, Drake, J Cole, Pooh Shiesty, Dj Khaled, BIA, Chris Brown, Doja Cat, JAY-Z, Lil NAs X, Migos, Roddy Rich, Saweetie, Young Thug, Young Bleu and Nicki Minaj for the "Whole Lotta Money (Remix)" with BIA. However, the Young Money femcee wasn't pleased with the single nomination pointing out BET's failure to highlight "Seeing Green" featuring Lil Wayne and Drake.

Nicki Minaj is no stranger to controversy when it comes to BET. The rapper, who won Best Female Rapper every year from 2010 through 2016, blasted the network 2019 when she pulled out of BET's Experience Festival after an unfavorable comparison to Cardi B. Regardless of the controversy, Nicki took home the award for Viewer's Choice in 2020. I agree with Nicki Minaj that "Seeing Green" is one of the biggest hip-hop records of the year, especially coming from a female. However, "WAP" is still reigning supreme and until the song is ineligible for awards, I don't think any female rapper should expect to claim any awards this season. In addition to throwing shade at BET, the Queen also answered questions about new "ground-breaking" music, advice she received from Drake on "being the best to ever do it," and revealed she had to pull out of Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. The 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards are on Tuesday, October 1st at 9PM EST on BET. Will you be watching? Do you think Nicki Minaj's "Seeing Green" was snubbed? Hit me up on IG at @BennettKnows
